Printing the Vellum is also a very popular trend. Usually the vellum is printed with the first names of the bride and groom in a contrasting ink color and then placed over the printed invitation. So for example, "Michael & Katie" could be printed in pink ink on the vellum that overlays the invite printed in black ink.

3. Have Fun With Embellishments: Once you have printed and assembled your pocket folder, you have to fasten it shut in some manner. You can use ribbons tied either in a love knot or bow. The ribbon can also match the bridal colors and are perfect for either formal or informal invitations. So, for example if you are having a formal wedding with lilac bridal colors, you may choose a Pearl folder and lilac ribbons. For an informal wedding, you may choose Watermelon pink with silver ribbons. Another way to fasten your invite is by using self adhesive gem stones. These can be found in any craft store in the scrapbook section. These colored gems add surprise and a little daring. Also in the scrapbook section, look for wax kits that you can seal letters with. Although more time consuming, it really makes a statement.

When you create your own shower invitations you can add a great deal of entertainment and fun to the baby shower to make it a memorable event for everyone involved. These accessories can include the thank you cards, stickers, fun rubber stamps, different envelopes, and birth announcements for when the baby actually arrives.

The first step when you create your own shower invitations is to choose the theme of the invitations. You will want to choose a theme and design that not only looks good to the eye but is also something you can easily create at home. You can find a wide variety of rubber stamps to go along with your theme as well as colors. For girls you can go with pinks and/or pastel colors. While for a boy you can opt to use darker colors and/or blues. If the gender of the baby is unknown it is usually best to stick to greens and yellows to stay gender neutral. You can get inspiration from the décor of the baby's room and incorporate that into the invitations where ever you can. Some examples would be Winnie-The-Pooh or Noah's Arc themed invitations.

When you are deciding what wording to use on baby shower invitations you make yourself, be sure to include all the vital information such as date, time, and location. You will also want to include the name of the mother to be and the baby, if it is known. Also included should be a list of stores where the mother has completed a gift register as well as a map of the location with step by step instructions. This last part is especially true if you will be inviting a lot of out of town guest or the location if off the beaten path.

If you are not up for making an individual invitation for each guest you can still have a personal touch by designing them and printing them off either are home or at a print location. Either way you can add a personal finishing touch by using a wax seal with the mother's or baby's initial on it to close each envelope. Regardless of if you make them yourself or print them you will always want to use the best quality materials your budget will allow. You not only want to get your guest to the shower but also provide them with a keepsake they can treasure for years to come.

Bookstores, and even some online resources, have many style guides that are available for all the different addressing styles. That way you can know for sure you're following that bit of etiquette.

Other parts of the card or letter are just as formalized as the address. Everything from the salutation through the closing has an entire section of etiquette style devoted to it. To stick with proper protocol, adhere to a style of writing that is uniform no matter what the main content of the letter is. If you will be sending a correspondence to someone who is in a position of power, doing it the right way is always best.

According to they style guidelines, having the envelope properly addressed with the correct address, postage affixed in the correct place and including a return address are all important when using the postal service to send a card or letter. It is a necessity to affix an envelope seal that was mentioned earlier. Heralding back to the days when the King would seal his correspondences with a wax seal to ensure privacy, envelope seals and stickers have come to represent that nod to propriety.

Granted, following all these rules of etiquette certainly complicates the mailing of a simple Christmas card, but by the time you put all the effort into posting a card or letter following proper protocol, it isn't a "simple" Christmas card any longer.
